Mick Curran
Utility Coach
Mick Curran slides back into his role as Utility
Coach for the 2011 season.
Before serving as Hitting Coach during the 2010 campaign and helping the ‘Cats
to a sixth consecutive playoff berth, Curran joined the RailCats in 2009 as the
team's Utility Coach, performing a variety of duties for Manager Greg Tagert
and serving as the team's First Base Coach. The RailCats posted the
Northern League's best record in 2009 and advanced to a fifth straight Northern
League Championship Series.
Curran has also worked for the past six years as an instructor at the
prestigious John Mallee ProStyle Baseball School in Griffith, Ind., working
regularly with some of the top major and minor league players in the
country. Mallee works as the Hitting Coordinator of the Florida Marlins,
and also works closely with former RailCat Anthony Iapoce, who is now the
Toronto Blue Jays Hitting Coordinator after working as a coach in the Marlins
system for several years.
Curran played collegiately at Illinois Wesleyan where he was a three-time First
Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection. Curran
finished his career as the Titans all-time hits leader.
