Gary SouthShore RailCats
Northern League

The oldest and most accomplished independent professional league in the country, the Northern League has been playing ball throughout the Midwest since 1902. The 2010 Northern League season is one of change, with two new teams (Lake County & Rockford) added to the lineup and a 100-game schedule for the first time in the league's independent history.  One of only two independent leagues to play a 100-plus game schedule, the 2010 season will mark the 18th consecutive year the league has operated as an independent circuit.

Considered the pre-eminent independent league in baseball, the Northern League’s six teams attracted nearly 1.3 million fans to the ballpark during the regular season, an average of 4,621 each night. All six teams in the Northern League drew over 3,400 fans per game in 2008, as the league continues to routinely out-draw nearly every minor league – affiliated and independent – below the Double-A level.
