Rusty the RailCat and members of the Gary SouthShore RailCats front office staff will be visiting children at a series of local hospitals this holiday season.

Rusty and friends will visit three hospital complexes on Monday, December 22, and one more on Tuesday, December 23.  Monday, the RailCats will stop by Saint Margaret Mercy in Hammond at 8:30 a.m., Saint Catherine Hospital in East Chicago at 10 a.m. and Saint Margaret Mercy & the Saint Francis Center in Dyer at 1:30 p.m.  On Tuesday, the RailCats will be visiting Saint Mary Medical Center in Hobart at 10 a.m. 

“The entire RailCats family is looking forward to these visits,” Laura Blakeley, RailCats Manager of Community Relations said.  “Reaching out in the Region is one of the most important facets of our organization.  Rusty has such a power to put smiles on kids’ faces, and it takes on a little extra meaning during the holidays.”

Rusty the RailCat will be bringing holiday gifts to all pediatric patients at the four facilities.  The RailCats have made holiday hospital visits since 2003.
