GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats open the 2009 exhibition season today at 11 a.m. in Joliet, and the ‘Cats will be all over the web all day long to keep fans updated.  Throughout the game visit the RailCats official blog, the (Rail)Cats Meow [railcats.blogspot.com] for as-it-happens updates, get thoughts from the press box on the RailCats Twitter [twitter.com/railcats] and of course get a full recap after the game on www.railcatsbaseball.com.

The (Rail)Cats Meow blog launched this winter in conjunction with the all-new www.railcatsbaseball.com and is home to everything from in-depth team analysis to storytelling from Rusty the RailCat.  The (Rail)Cats Meow is also where fans can leave their feedback for the staff and talk with other RailCats fans around the world.  Throughout today’s game, RailCats Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting Andy Viano will be filing reports live from Silver Cross Field and answering fan questions posted on the (Rail)Cats Meow.  Fans can begin posting questions about the upcoming season, former players, offseason life or anything else at the (Rail)Cats Meow at any time, and every question will be answered during the game!

Meanwhile, the new RailCats Twitter will be buzzing all day with game updates and other notes from the action.  Fans can follow the RailCats on and off the field all year through the blog, Twitter and the Official RailCats Facebook Page, while not watching or listening to games live at www.railcatsbaseball.com.

The RailCats opened Spring Training Friday and played their first inner-squad scrimmage Monday at U. S. Steel Yard.  Today is the first chance the 27 ‘Cats in camp get a chance to face an enemy, with the two Chicagoland rivals squaring off for the only time this exhibition season.  The RailCats will play a total of eight exhibition games this year but only three at home, and none until Monday, May 11.

The RailCats open the 2009 regular season at home Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. also against the JackHammers.  Tickets for that game and every game this season are on sale now by stopping by the U. S. Steel Yard Box Office, calling 219.882.2255 or visiting www.railcatsbaseball.com.
