BACKPACK GIVEAWAY/HOME RUNS FOR HEROES/BOY SCOUT SLEEPOVER: Saturday, August 21 @ 6 P.M. – The first 1,000 kids who enter U. S. Steel Yard on this day will receive a cool camouflage backpack, courtesy of the Indiana National Guard Counterdrug Task Force. The RailCats, in conjunction with the Northwest Indiana Military Support Network, are proud to host the first-ever Home Runs for Heroes event, benefiting veterans for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The event is focused on reaching out to veterans, military families and current service members to create opportunities for them, just as they have bravely served their country and will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at U. S. Steel Yard. It's also boys’ night out at The Steel Yard, as the RailCats invite hundreds of Boy Scouts from around Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland to the ballpark to spend the night. It only starts with the game, which is followed by a Question-and-Answer session with RailCats players and coaches, a bonfire for making s'mores, camping out in the outfield, a special feature movie on the jumbo video board plus breakfast in the morning. The first 400 scouts will also receive a patch for participating.

AMERICAN ENGLISH BEATLES TRIBUTE CONCERT/TIMES FAMILY SUNDAY: Sunday, August 22 @ 2 P.M. – Come out to the game on this day for your chance to meet the Beatles! Well, not really, but we’ve got the next best thing. Check out world-renowned Beatles cover band American English performing live after the game! Look for the Family Day coupon in The Times and bring it to U. S. Steel Yard to get four box seat tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for just $36!

Tickets to see the RailCats during the fun-filled nine-game homestand are now on sale by calling 219.882.2255 or visiting www.railcatsbaseball.com. The RailCats will play 50 times at U. S.
