GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the signing of first baseman Christopher Barr and placed right-handed pitcher Jamal Wilson on waivers.
Barr batted .210 with seven doubles, 14 RBIs and 18 runs in 45 starts as a senior in 2017 at the University of Miami (Fla.). As a junior, Barr hit .256 with six doubles, three triples and finished second on the team with 14 stolen bases in 61 starts.
Wilson finished without a record and one save in three relief outings with the RailCats. Wilson signed his first professional contract with Gary on July 8th and recorded a hold with a scoreless inning of relief against the Winnipeg Goldeyes in his pro debut.
Gary is idle on Monday before starting a six-game homestand on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. vs. the Cleburune RailRoaders. All-Star Charle Rosario (7-4, 3.21) makes his league-high 15th start for Gary while Cleburne has yet to announce their starter for Tuesday’s series opener.
